My Story

Eco-Friendly Clothing – Better for You and Better for Our Mother Earth

Caring for Mother Earth is a shared responsibility—one I passionately believe in and live by through my business, Studio 33.

At the heart of Studio 33 is a commitment to protecting life and making mindful choices that leave a lighter footprint on our planet. I create oversized, comfortable garments designed for ease of movement, everyday wear. Most of my fabrics are eco-friendly and sourced from local, independent suppliers, supporting small businesses while reducing environmental impact.

Unlike much of the fashion industry—which often overlooks its effect on the planet—Studio 33 is part of a growing movement that puts nature first. I personally spend time carefully selecting alternative materials that align with eco-conscious values. Supporting this movement isn’t just my responsibility—it’s one of the greatest joys of my work.

Caring for Your Garments

Looking after your Studio 33 pieces is simple. Hand washing is recommended, but I understand that busy lifestyles don’t always allow for that. A delicate machine wash is absolutely fine too.

If your garment ever needs a little love, please get in touch. Returning customers are always welcome, and I offer repairs for wear and tear at a small fee. I truly believe garments grow softer, wear better, and collect memories over time. By repairing rather than discarding clothing, we reduce waste and preserve meaningful pieces.

Design & Inspiration

My Central American & British heritage flows through my designs, with influences such as woven fabrics and ponchos reflecting on my Central American roots and plenty wool options that display my passion for British locally sourced natural fibres. Raised in the UK has shaped me deeply, and I honour the land I walk on through my work. Subtle splashes of English heritage are woven into my designs and Im constantly eager to make more.

I also embrace the humility that comes with wearing eco-friendly clothing—pieces that remind us to protect what sustains us: rivers, oceans, forests, clean air, nourishing soil, and healing plants. The sun, the earth, and nature itself support our existence, and my designs are a tribute to that relationship.

I invite you to join the eco tribe—because building a closer connection with nature benefits both you and our planet.

Looking Ahead

This is only the beginning for Studio 33, and I’m so excited for what’s to come.

I’ve partnered with Plant a Tree, meaning every purchase helps plant a tree—giving back to the planet in a tangible way.

Future additions will include hand-woven blankets, felting, up-cycled pieces, handmade home gifts, baskets, and creative collaborations.

I’m committed to collaborating with Indigenous creators from Central and South America, supporting their traditional crafts and journeys. I’ll also be working closely with local makers in my community who share the same nature-driven values.

Together—shoulder to shoulder—we can create meaningful change.

Sofia’s deep connection with nature inspired her to look inward and ask how she could live more consciously, with greater care for Mother Earth.

The more she learned, the more she realised how much change is needed in the world. At first, the scale of it all felt overwhelming. Over time, that feeling shifted. The guilt began to ease, replaced by a sense of purpose—knowing that even small, thoughtful choices matter. Change requires courage, commitment, and a willingness to let go of what no longer serves the planet.

Modern consumerism is often driven by wealth and power, prioritising profit over the wellbeing of our Earth. Sofia doesn’t claim perfection—only intention. She chooses to try. She remains mindful of the decisions she makes, understanding that this is only the beginning of a longer journey.

She is always striving to learn more.

Learning about escalating environmental crises across Central and South America, Africa and Central Africa—including the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to the Congo Basin rainforest—as well as regions such as Bangladesh and Somalia, has been both confronting and necessary. These realities cannot be ignored.

Illegal logging and deforestation result in devastating biodiversity loss, soil erosion, and the acceleration of glacial melting. Rainforests are vital to life on Earth: they provide food, water, timber, and medicine, while helping to regulate and stabilise the global climate.

The Amazon rainforest alone stores an estimated 150–200 billion tonnes of carbon and releases around 20 billion tonnes of water into the atmosphere every day, playing a critical role in the planet’s carbon and water cycles. Yet it remains under severe threat from deforestation and fires, with protected areas and Indigenous lands increasingly at risk. We cannot meaningfully address the climate crisis without protecting the Amazon and its ecosystems.

These places—and the people who call them home—need our support now more than ever.

The term “natural disasters” is often misleading. Many so-called disasters are the result of human actions and choices that could have been prevented. Those with power and wealth frequently make decisions that leave vulnerable communities—especially those already experiencing poverty—at even greater risk. The fewer resources people have, the harder it becomes to recover from failed harvests, floods, or displacement.

Protecting Indigenous Peoples is essential. They are knowledge keepers, healers, and guardians of the land. Indigenous communities play a vital role in caring for the Earth, strengthening resilience to climate impacts, and defending biodiversity. Although Indigenous Peoples steward roughly a quarter of the world’s land, they protect around 80% of the planet’s remaining biodiversity—yet their rights are still too often overlooked.

This matters to all of us.

Thank you for taking the time to read and reflect.

With love and gratitude,
